Aarhus is one the second-largest city in Denmark, which is a popular tourist destination Aarhus is a port city on the eastern coast of Jutland. The downtown is a healthy mix of old red-brick structures and brand new modernized shops. Large parts of the downtown are pedestrian. The city's harbor is pretty much industrial; instead the lifeline of the downtown is in its main canal, the Aboulevarden that cuts through the heart of the city.
Beyond doubt, if there is one thing you do in Aarhus, you must visit Den Gamle By, the Old Town museum. This is one of those simulated old town-type places where the workers dress and work as they did centuries past. What made this interesting was the sheer size of the place, almost eighty buildings embracing a beautiful stream. Each one of the buildings was either 'moved' from somewhere in Denmark or reconstructed copies of actual buildings. The buildings dated mostly from the 18th and 19th centuries, although some were decorated in early-20th century style, and some of them contained a history of the families that lived within. Each of the common trades was represented: apothecaries, blacksmiths, millers, weavers, tailors, etc.
Aarhus encourages sport at all levels. The Stadium of Aarhus Atletion is a sports facility which hosts great sports events as well as the daily training for many athletes, be it within handball, athletics, badminton, dance, etc. The unique facilities of Atletion are, however, also perfect for commercial use, i.e. meetings, conferences, congresses or even more festive parties of any size.
There are four large cinemas in aarhus denmark, screening 30-40 Danish and foreign films per day. The largest cinemas are equipped with state-of-the-art audio and image technology. Aarhus enjoys a well-deserved reputation as a thriving centre of music and has a number of nationally famous venues, many of which have also achieved international recognition.
